

About Robert and Danny…
Robert Bartley and Danny Whitman collaborate as co-composer, lyricist and book writer. Their works have been performed and recorded by Rachel York, Tonya Pinkins, Jen Colella, Tony Yazbeck, Karen Mason and Nancy Opel, and featured in the Drama Desk Award-winning York Theatre Company's first NEO concert, MAC/ASCAP Songwriters’ Showcase, The Music of Broadway: The Next Generation, and Broadway’s Gypsy of the Year. Danny and Robert recently performed an evening of their songs in the York Theatre Company's new NEO Spotlight Series with Broadway performers Tony Yazbeck, Jenn Colella and Tituss Burgess. Their musical, Dance With Me, was recently selected as a finalist for the Eugene O’Neil National Music Theatre Conference and the NAMT festival in New York.
Danny’s family musical The Tales of Custard the Dragon has been produced by The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., on tour, as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival and is currently in production at The Algonguin Theatre in New York City, directed by Robert. Only a Girl, for which Danny contributed music and lyrics, has been produced throughout the Tri-state area by Light Keeper Productions.
Robert and Danny are the creative team behind Broadway Backwards which most recently played on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre with a host of stars including Betty Buckley, Neil Patrick Harris, Len Cariou, Sandy Duncan, Lainie Kazan, Gary Beach.
As a Director/Choreographer, Robert was represented last season by The Family Fiorelli in The New York Musical Theatre Festival, and Hair in Peculiar Work’s Obie-winning sequel Off Stage: East Village Fragments.
Danny has served as vocal arranger for Charles Strouse and John Bucchino (currently represented on Broadway by A Catered Affair) on original revues of their songs, and for concerts by the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
As performers, Robert has played leading roles both on and off Broadway, at Carnegie Hall, in national tours, and with symphony orchestras worldwide, and Danny has sung alongside such artists as Kenny Rogers, Tom Wopat and jazz-great Chuck Mangione.
Robert and Danny are collectively members of The Dramatists Guild, SSDC, ASCAP, AEA, SAG, AGMA, AFTRA and AGVA.
